The fourth in a series of essays which survey Shatwell Farm in Somerset, home of the Drawing Matter archive. The first essay, Cars, can be seen here. Rather than the archive, the texts document the workings of the farm in writing, photographs, film and text. Covering over, bagging up, tying down is about tarpaulin. Stripey and sack-shaped, stretched and torn, semi-transparent and sun-bleached; the tarps found around Shatwell Farm provide a distinct colour contrast against the metal and masonry sheds and silos. The tarps on the farm were mainly white, blue, orange, and black.
