The third in a series of essays which survey Shatwell Farm in Somerset, home of the Drawing Matter archive. The first essay, Cars, can be seen here. Rather than the archive, the texts document the workings of the farm in writing, photographs, film and text. Appendages happen quickly and might be termed as practices in tinkering or maintenance. They can be temporary and are often made by those using the building without the help of architects. On Shatwell Farm, the buildings are altered as and when needed with minimal intervention.
