As part of a larger research project on the River Thames in London, this book includes photographs taken from a series of walks along the river in areas including Tilbury, Gray, Parliament, Cubitt Town, Greenhithe, Erith and Richmond. The project researched the historic attempts to tame the river as an urban resource and machine to colonise land elsewhere. It speculated on making the river publicly accessible as a continuous line for walkers and cyclists. A minimal intervention which, depending on location, could spark contention in land ownership through the simple act of access.
